FOR KIDS
We are a family club which offers a safe and fun environment for children and adults to learn how to play and enjoy hockey. The Club has been awarded ClubsFirst which is an accreditation awarded by England Hockey (EH) to clubs who can demonstrate that they adhere to certain standards as recommended by England Hockey. All of our coaches are qualified to EH standards and are DBS checked where necessary. All coaches have a Safeguarding Children qualification and there are First Aiders at every session. We are very proud of this achievement and are the only club in the area to have gained this award.

We train our boys and girls separately but on the same pitch from the U10’s upwards. We play tournaments against other clubs around Essex roughly once every four weeks. Normally three or four clubs will all play each other at each tournament and the results are all put together for a Finals Day which takes place at the end of the season. We do not select players on ability for the tournaments. If they are available to play then they will get to play, as there are enough games for all players to get a turn.

The first session for new players is free. We want your children to try hockey and see whether they like it before you need to make any commitment. On that basis we can provide a stick if your child doesn’t have their own. We insist that children wear shin pads as the ball is very hard, we also recommend the wearing of a gum shield for the same reason. Water should also be brought to every training session.

Membership is £5 per session or £105 annually. This covers all coaching sessions and all of the League tournaments including Finals Day. Your child will be provided with a drink and a biscuit/cake after each training session. Fees can be paid in two instalments if needed, one of £55 at the start of the season and the second £50 in January. For players joining part the way through the season, subs are worked out on a pro rata basis. There is provision for flexibility around the payment of fees if needed.

Our Club ethos is about the safety and enjoyment of hockey. We want our members to enjoy their hockey and believe that everyone should be given the opportunity to develop both on the field and off. To that end, we have a number of our younger club members involved in coaching, umpiring and organising. They are all supervised by our qualified coaches in line with EH standards.
